Stepping Up the Social Media Battle: A Strategy Session on Palestinian Advocacy

On December 27, 2023, a meeting was convened to discuss and strategize on how to further the cause of Palestinian advocacy. A roadmap to sanctions was laid out, a social media war was discussed, and the creation of a Palestinian kit for the workplace was proposed. The meeting also covered administrative issues and the idea of a B2B connections platform.

The Roadmap to Sanctions

The meeting kicked off with a discussion on the roadmap to sanctions. The roadmap starts with raising awareness where Adil’s video plays a pivotal role. The participants commended their allies on their support while directing questions to them. They also discussed reaching out to BDS to see if such a roadmap exists.

The Social Media War

Next, the battle on social media platforms was addressed. The group decided to utilize the platform ‘wordsofiron’ as a tool for reporting pro-Israel posts and promoting pro-Palestinian content. There was also mention of a ‘report on LinkedIn’ campaign shared by Sommaya, which was selected as the action of the week. The group acknowledged the need to further investigate how accounts are brought back and/or taken down, and confirmed a meeting with someone high up in LinkedIn to discuss this issue.

Palestinian Kit for the Workplace

The creation of a ‘Palestinian kit for the workplace’ was another key topic. Sarah took on the responsibility of reaching out to DEI against occupation to initiate this project.

B2B Connections Platform

Mohammad proposed the idea of a B2B connections platform, an idea which he committed to submit in the ideas bank. This platform could serve as a crucial tool for strengthening business relationships and fostering collaboration among Palestinian advocates.

Administrative Issues

The meeting also touched on administrative issues, such as the challenge of sharing a Google Sheet with a password. It was agreed that the sheet would be shared live during the calls with a private link. The group also acknowledged the prudent action item of starting to consolidate duplicate efforts of different groups.
